If You Drive One of These 6 Cars, Pay Attention to the UAW Strike

ed only 488056890

Hey there, drivers.

While some tentative progress has been made with Ford this week, the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike at Big Three (Ford, GM, and Stellantis) plants is still very much alive. We’ve written up a general overview of what to watch out for here, but we want to call out some models in particular that have been affected due to targeted walkouts.

If you were hoping to buy or lease one of the following vehicles in the coming weeks or months, keep an eye out and weigh your options carefully. Inventories have already taken a bit of a hit, but if the Big Three manufacturers reach deals with the UAW soon, vehicle stock may bounce back more quickly.

If you own or are already leasing one of these vehicles, take note – it’s likely increased in value.

  • Ford Ranger
  • Ford Bronco
  • Chevrolet Colorado (GM)
  • GMC Canyon (GM)
  • Jeep Wrangler (Stellantis)
  • Jeep Gladiator (Stellantis)

Currently leasing one of the above? You may want to consider a lease buyout, especially if you like your leased car and would love to keep it past your lease-end date

A buyout would allow you to buy and keep the car based on a residual value that was locked in at the beginning of your lease (i.e. before its value was inflated because of the strike). There’s a good chance you could pay less than market value to own a great, not-that-old vehicle.

(And even if you’re not leasing any of those 6 vehicles, a lease buyout might be a good option if you’re tired of rising rates and are ready to exit the leasing cycle with a car that’s already in your hands.)

If you want to learn more about lease buyouts, lease buyout loans, and how one could lower your monthly car payments, check us out at leaseend.com or give us a call at (888) 307-5197 to chat with one of our lease-end experts. (If you're in a rush, you can always get started below.)
